The Disney Four C’s

Most people that even know me a little, know that Walt Disney is one of my heroes. He marched to the beat of his own drum, had zero encouragement, knew his heart, and never ever gave up on his dream. He failed in business ventures more times than I can recall, but each time his vision kept getting more clearly defined. With each fall, he fell forward. The difference in him and others is that he never stayed down. He quickly jumped up, bouncing ahead, with almost a relief for being able to close the last door and try it again – but this time better. This necessary process always moved him closer and closer to the dream in his heart that would one day become a reality. Few people can withstand constant discouragement but it seemed to only feed his soul. He had a gift, a passion, a dream and a spirit of determination. He set out to share it with the world and, I would say, he far exceeded the initial dream! The world is delighted in his success and determination.

IMG_0152Walt Disney – “Somehow I can’t believe there are any heights that can’t be scaled by a man who knows the secret of making dreams come true. This special secret, it seems to me, can be summarized in four C’s. They are Curiosity, Confidence, Courage, and Constancy and the greatest of these is Confidence. When you believe a thing, believe it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably.”

I am blessed to have a husband, two adult children and a son-in-law who share this same love of creativity. None of us excelled in mathematics or science but we all thrived in our love for the arts, the creative, the unimaginable and the abstract. We are all passionate about creating something. It is fun to be together because I believe we do what Hebrews 10:24 says, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works”… to create things that might not otherwise exist. It could be public speaking, song writing, playing music and singing, photography, videography, painting, drawing your story with words, inspirational reading, building with wood, decorating, designing and repurposing, story telling, comedy and laughter. It’s all our own world of imagination. Our granddaughter and grandson have added the world of dance to joyfully round things out. Yes, very blessed indeed.

Walk Disney quotes on the four C’s…

Curiosity “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”

When you’re curious, you find lots of interesting things to do. And one thing it takes to accomplish something is courage.”

Confidence  “I have been up against tough competition all my life. I wouldn’t know how to get along without it.”

“When we go into that new project, we believe in it all the way. We have confidence in our ability to do it right. And we work hard to do the best possible job.”

Courage “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”

“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.”

Constancy “Get a good idea and stay with it. Dog it, and work at it until it’s done right.”

“When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionable.”
