It’s Good Friday. Our grandkids spent the night last night and Bill was telling the Bible story about good Friday and what it means. He reminded them that it seems strange to call the day Jesus was crucified and suffered “Good” Friday. It was the most painfully hard day for Jesus in every way but it was good for us that He willingly offered up His life as our sacrifice to pay for our sin.
I was reading John 19:10 where Jesus refused to speak to Pilate. “Do you refuse to speak to me? Don’t you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?” Jesus answered, ” You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above.”
It seemed Pilate stood holding the power but God was in charge of the whole scene from beginning to end. The same is true so often with our lives…we stand thinking we are in charge but God holds us and our lives in His hands…loving us and being faithful to us, even in our unfaithfulness.
Thank you Jesus for what you did on the cross so that we can know You! Thank you for giving us amazing grace.
Just Jesus,
