Who Are You

My husband, Bill, made a statement in his sermon Sunday that I have thought about this week. “ 99% of how we live is based on how we see ourselves!”  How do you see yourself?  That is very thought-provoking to me.  Today was back to school around here. A new year, a new start, full of opportunities… although this doesn’t exactly involve me directly anymore, I still think of my friends and their kids who return to the routine of school.  I woke up this morning to pray for you guys as you enter a brand new year full of possibilities.

I am a summer loving, free spirit who loves flexibility so school was never my favorite.  For those, who, like me, are struggling with starting a new school year or having a hard time sending your baby out into the world, I decided to write out short descriptions of who we are in Christ.  Do you know who you are in Christ? Speak these words over yourself and your children today.

As believers…. you are dearly loved as Jesus died for you, you have been raised with Christ, the Holy Spirit indwells you, you are a new creation, you are forgiven and saved by grace, you are seated with Christ, you have a future and a hope, you are a child of the king, you are joint-heirs with Jesus… selected, chosen and adopted into His kingdom, you are in the world but not of it, you have a new mind- the mind of Christ, you were created for more, you are a temple of the Holy Spirit, you have the full armor of God to stand against the enemy, you are secure in your position of being IN Christ, you can cast your cares on Jesus because He cares for you, you are mighty warriors, you are more than conquerors, you are strong and courageous, you are brave, you don’t struggle alone, you are overcomers, Christ is the vine and you are the branches meant to bear fruit, you are the apple of your Father’s eye, you are made in the very image of God, Jesus living in you is greater than the devil who is in this world, you are designed to bear the fruit of the spirit- which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Christ is in you…the hope of glory!

“You are a man or woman of integrity and character. You will love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. You will be a blessing to your teachers and a blessing to your friends. You are the head and not the tail. You are above and not beneath. You are a leader and not a follower.  (Pricilla Shirer says this to her boys are they leave for school each day).

Claim his truth now, then go out and walk securely among the people God places in your life today.

Just Jesus,

Sheri

  1. Thank you, Sheri, for such a powerful, positive, encouraging message to all of us on your Blog. Every Christian needs that message of hope. I speak from the background of being a “preacher” most all of my life when I say, that the positive aspect of the Gospel and Biblical truth has been communicated by many people who grace our pulpits more in negative terms than positive. Jesus said, “Feed my sheep, (not beat them.)

Thank you for feeding us with your words of hope and encouragement.

    I love you,

    Your dear ol Dad
