What A Strange Way

One of the most amazing things in life is the miracle of birth…to hold a newborn baby. Holding my babies for the first time was inexplicable.  Can you imagine holding baby Jesus in your arms?  I can’t!  We all say about our babies, “What an angel…” but Mary was saying…”What a Redeemer.”  She was holding God incarnate!  I’ve always been so interested in the way Jesus came to man. God became man in the form of a tiny newborn baby. Mary was just a young girl and Joseph an honorable young man. They were just simple ordinary people.  A song that always moves me is the one I am sharing the lyrics today told from Josephs perspective.  God loved us so much that he made a way for us to know God. He made a way for us to be redeemed.

Strange Way to Save the World

“I’m sure he must have been surprised

At where this road had taken him

Cause never in a million lives

Would he have dreamed of Bethlehem

And standing at the manger

He saw with his own eyes

The message from the angel come to life

And Joseph said

Why me, I’m just a simple man of trade

Why Him with all the rulers in the world

Why here inside this stable filled with hay

Why her, she’s just an ordinary girl

Now I’m not one to second guess

What angels have to say

But this is such a strange way to save the

World

To think of how it could have been

If Jesus had come as He deserved

There would have been no Bethlehem

No lowly shepherds at His birth

But Joseph knew the

Reason love had to reach so far

And as he held the Savior in his arms

He must have thought

Why me, I’m just a simple man of trade

Why Him with all the rulers in the world

Why here inside this stable filled with hay

Why her, she’s just an ordinary girl

Now I’m not one to second guess

What angels have to say

But this is such a strange way to save the

World.”   -4him

Jesus…. fully God and also fully man left his throne in heaven to come to earth to become like us so that He could be born in a humble way, grow up in a normal home, experience all the things we experience, and yet never sin- He was perfect.  He came to us as a man so that we could identify with Him.  He came so that He could take our place- to redeem us, to do what we could not do ourselves….save us in and from our sins.  He came so that whosoever might believe could become a child of the King for eternity.  There is nothing stranger and more wonderful that God would do this for us.  I’m so glad He did!

Jesus our savior and Redeemer. Merry Christmas!

Just Jesus,

Sheri
