FIVE YEARS OF STORYPEACE

I barely made it in time to write this November blog. This month is actually my 5-year anniversary of writing this blog!  On week one of 2015 my goal was to write every day.  Very soon that got adjusted to every week and I did that for a good while.  The next thing I knew my new goal was to at least write once a month and I believe I have made that goal a reality with a few exceptions.  I’m grateful to all who have stuck with me over these years and for your kind words of encouragement that have propelled me forward. I have so much to be thankful for.

Coming off of Thanksgiving weekend you may be ‘thanked out’ but then again this may be the first morning to sit still for a moment and reflect.  I wanted to share a mixture of a few thoughts I have read and been dwelling on for a week.  It has been a profound week for me and a time of real spiritual breakthrough.  I have a renewed sense of purpose and joy and for that I am extremely thankful.

As we all are experiencing, this is a time of adversary in our country and our lives.  I read these words, “Thankfulness takes the sting out of adversary. We are instructed to give thanks in everything. There is an element of mystery in this transaction: You give Him thanks (regardless of your feelings), and He will give you joy (regardless of your circumstances).”

“Thankfulness opens your heart to His presence and your mind to His thoughts. You may still be in the same place, with the same set of circumstances, but it as if a light has been switched on, enabling you to see from His perspective. It is the light of Jesus presence that removes the sting of adversity.”

If you have been struggling to get through the challenges before us in our present adversity, stop and thank God for everything you have, the things big and small.  Most of all, thank Him for saving you from your sin and the punishment to come for those who don’t know Jesus.  Focus on Jesus and not the issues. I’m reminded of Ephesians 5:20, “Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Just Jesus,

Sheri
