Cataclysmic

 

As I was spending time in the word this morning, this devotion came up in my reading. Cataclysmic isn’t a word we use every day. It did seem appropriate for this time in which we find ourselves. I thought it was spot on to what we all might be feeling on this spring morning. The sun is shining but we still find ourselves caught in this cataclysmic time in history. What a strange experience it is for us as this virus rampages our world. Remember with me that our only hope is found in Jesus. He is our comforter and our peace. He is the only one who is big enough to handle it- He is indeed in control! He is near to the brokenhearted.

“This is a time in your life when you must learn to let go: of loved ones, of possessions, of control. In order to let go of something that is precious to you, you need to rest in Jesus presence, where you are complete. Take time to bask in the light of the love of Christ. As you relax more and more, your grasping hand gradually opens up, releasing your prized possessions into His care.

You can feel secure, even in the midst of cataclysmic changes, through awareness of His continual presence. The one who never leaves you is the same one who never changes: “I am the same yesterday and forever”–Hebrews 13:8. As you release more and more things into Jesus care, remember that He never lets go of your hand. Herein lies your security, which no one and no circumstance can take from you.”

“For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you; Do not fear; I will help you.” – Isaiah 41:13

I pray today we would be comforted by the word of the Lord and strengthened to encourage others who are struggling. Let’s help others as we find opportunity. Let’s spread joy when it seems grim. Let’s pray for those who are in authority. Let’s trust in Christ alone for strength. Let’s run to Him with our burdens, as He is our rest. Let’s take it one day at a time, not worrying about tomorrow. Let’s expect for Jesus to be exalted in all that happens past, present and future.
